At The Dermatology Center at Sacramento ENT, we offer surgical dermatology services to manage medical and cosmetic conditions of the veins, hair, skin and nails. Many of our cosmetic procedures are minimally invasive and require only local anesthesia. We use surgical dermatology to improve function and appearance of the skin and other tissues. Common procedures we perform include anti-aging treatment, Botox, soft tissue fillers, vein therapy, chemical peels, hair removal and restoration, skin cancer treatment, reconstructive skin grafts and laser treatments.
Mohs surgery is a procedure to remove certain types of skin cancer layer by layer. It is up to 99 percent effective in treating basal cell carcinoma, which is the most prevalent type of skin cancer. Mohs reconstruction is used to fix defects caused by cancer excision. There are three types of Mohs reconstruction. Primary closure is for small defects that are not near other anatomic structures; it is performed by closing the defect with layers of sutures. Local flap closure is for deeper defects or those close to anatomical structures; the doctor rotates or pulls local tissues over the defect. Skin graft closure is for large defects; skin grafts are taken from another part of the body such as the hand or thigh, and these are secured over the defect with sutures.
Dr. Trauner is board certified by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, with expertise in both surgical and minimally invasive treatment of conditions of the skin. He has extensive training in many cosmetic procedures including chemical peels, laser treatments, soft tissue fillers, wrinkle relaxers and body sculpting. Whether you require reconstruction after surgery or trauma, or you are ready for a rejuvenation procedure, trust your cosmetic dermatology care to an ASDS certified professional.
